A couple of days ago I ran into a post over at the zen family habits blog written by Sherri Kruger on using a mind map to decide what matters most to your family and figuring out what direction your family should take. As part of our weekly family night we cut up strips of paper and decided to write down the areas of our lives that matter most to us and things we want to focus on together as a family.
We loved how the activity made us think about what we care about, but more importantly how we should be focusing our attention on these things and choose to say “no” to other activities that bring little value into our lives. The activity was fun for our daughter, who helped to “beautify” each slip of paper. I would challenge each of you to spend time as a family deciding who you want to be and what you want to focus your time and attention on.
